Itinerary
Leaving at 9am from the centre of Amsterdam, the hamlet of Zaanse Schans is our first destination, globally renowned for its perfectly preserved antique windmills. One of the symbols of Holland itself, there you can learn how these wooden structures have aided (and continue to aid), in the production of products such as oil, grain, dye and mustard.
From there the tour moves on to the region of Waterland, home to the picturesque villages: Edam, Volendam and Marken.
At Volendam, your guide will take you on a tour of the historic fishing village, where you will have the opportunity to take in its bustling harbour and its charming green houses. You will also visit Edam and Marken, both famous for its fifteenth century houses, protestant churches and beautiful ports.
You will also visit a clog and Dutch cheese factory and have free time to explore the villages on your own and find a local restaurant to have lunch. We highly recommend ordering the traditional Dutch herring,
The tour will then return to Amsterdam, arriving around 5:30pm
