San Sebastian & Getaria Trip

  • 40 reviews | 252 travellers
The excursion has been very interesting, especially the first stop at the farmhouse. There, a very nice girl showed us how they lived 500 years ago in that village and we did a very fun little activity. Afterwards we left for San Sebastián but we lacked time at the destination to be able to see it well. To highlight our guide Josu, who has been explaining everything to us and concerned about our well-being at all times. You made our visit very enjoyable, thank you Josu!

San Sebastian & Getaria Trip

After picking you up at your selected meeting point, we'll kick off our day trip to San Sebastian and Guetaria.

Starting off with a visit to a charming Basque hamlet from the 16th century, we'll tour what used to be a winepress centuries ago. We'll learn how the stomped the apples with special tools and top off the visit with a cider tasting. With a fresh glass of natural Basque cider, we'll set the tone for a fantastic day in Basque country!

Headed back to the bus, we'll set our sights towards San Sebastian, just a short 30 minutes away. As we arrive at eh Guipuzcoa capital, we'll make our second stop of the day the Monte Igueldo lookout point. Here, we'll be treated to stunning panoramas of La Concha beach. Then, we'll hoof it down to the city, taking in the grandeur of its magnificent buildings and historic sites. Fun fact: San Sebastian was crowned the European Capital of Culture in 2016!

From here, we'll give you 1.5 hours of free time to catch lunch at any of the local restaurants nearby. Then, it's back on the bus to head to our next stop of the day. As we drive, be sure to catch glimpses of Zarautz, a popular seaside summer town along the Cantabrian coast.

Next up, we'll take a guided tour of the historic center of Guetaria, stroll through the traditional fishing port, and pass the beautiful church of San Salvador. We'll also see the monument to Juan Sebastian Elcano, a sailor who circumnavigated the globe.

We then head back to Bilbao, dropping you at the starting point after a total of 9 hours.
