Discover Kiev's secrets on this English language guided tour. You'll explore the Ukrainian capital's key monuments and get to know its history and culture.
After being picked up from your hotel, you'll start your tour of Kiev and its more than 1500 years of history.
Setting off from the city's ancient hill, you'll head down Andriyivskyy Descent, often nicknamed 'the Montmartre of Kiev'. You'll stroll through the historic centre of Podil, where you'll see the Hostynnyi Dvir, the building in which the city's government would sign trade agreements; St Andrew's Church, and the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the country's first university.
In the nearby St Michael's Square, you can admire the majestic golden domes of St Michael's Monastery. An annexed building of the Monastery, the Cathedral dedicated to the same Saint, was rebuilt in the 1990s after being destroyed by the Soviet authorities.
Your next stop will be Saint Sophia Cathedral, one of the city's most symbolic buildings, which was constructed in the 11th century. You'll pass through the Golden Gate, the main entrance to medieval Kiev, before heading towards the Orthodox Saint Volodymyr's Cathedral, dedicated to Vladimir the Great, the Prince who Christianised the country at the end of the 10th century.
You'll then arrive at the heart of the modern city: the Maidan, or Independence Square. Walking down Kiev's main street, you'll approach the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and the Catholic Cathedral of St. Alexander.
Next you'll enter Kiev's government district, home to the National Bank of Ukraine, the Art Nouveau Horodecki House (also known as the House with Chimaeras), and the President of Ukraine's office.
The tour finishes in the centre of Kiev.
