Do you dare to explore the world's most dangerous road? Ride down the infamous Death Road in Bolivia by bike or bus and experience an unforgettable adrenaline rush!
Death Road Biking Tour
We'll meet at the Little Italy Restaurant in central La Paz at the scheduled time on the day of your tour. First of all, the guide will give you instructions on how to ride the bikes and guidelines that you must follow at all times to enjoy this activity as safely as possible.
Ready to ride? We'll then set off on our route to Death Road, the infamous route stretching from La Paz to Coroico in Bolivia that has been officially named the most dangerous road in the world.
Reaching the start of Yungas Road, as it's alternatively known, we'll hop on our bikes to begin the first part of our cycling tour to the tourist control post (tax not included). Just after that, we'll put our bikes back in the vehicle to reach the top of a steep hill, where we'll have a sandwich to renew our energy before before grabbing our bikes again and setting off on Death Road.
Cycling down the winding paths between sheer mountain drops, you'll feel an unforgettable rush of adrenaline. The route takes you past a number of monuments, like the plaque to the Martyrs of Democracy, the Devil's Tail and the Callejón de la Clavícula before reaching the Waterfalls of San Juan.
Here we'll take a well-earned break to catch our breath and take in the lush Bolivian jungle surrounding us. The last stretch of our tour will be to La Jungla, where we'll stop at a restaurant with a swimming pool - the finishing touch on an experience you'll remember forever!
At the end of our tour of Death Road, we'll make the return journey to La Paz by bus.
Death Road by Bus
When making your reservation, you can choose to do this tour by bus instead of bike if you'd prefer. You'll visit the same places as on the above itinerary, and the experience of driving along the winding paths of the Death Road is equally thrilling!
Types of bike
You can choose between two different bikes for this tour:
- Kona Lanai (simple suspension): recommended for customers with more experience in high mountain biking. They're less flexible, so they're harder to use than the other option.
- Kona (double suspension): with better comfort and stability levels and Hayes hydraulic brakes, these are recommended for those with less mountain biking experience.
- The route we follow is of high difficulty. The tour is not suitable for people with heart problems.
- You must sign a liability waiver before completing the activity.
