Discovering the history of jazz music in New Orleans

New Orleans Jazz Tour

Meet your tour guide in the outskirts of New Orleans' French Quarter, under the archway in the entrance to Louis Armstrong Park. From here, you'll begin your journey deep into the history and culture of jazz, a musical genre that was born in this southern US city.

In the park, you'll learn all about the history of jazz, which originated in New Orleans from music played by African slaves, and developed over the decades with influences from other musical traditions. Pay homage to one of the most famous jazz musicians of all time, Louis Armstrong, discovering his relation to the Louisiana city.

Continue your guided evening tour through the popular Faubourg Marigny neighbourhood, an area of the city known for its lively nightlife thanks to the multitude of different bars hosting jazz performances at all hours. You won't only hear music in these venues though - the street is the stage for many talented jazz musicians here.

Stroll down Frenchmen Street, where you'll head into one of the many live music spots that line this famous few blocks near the French Quarter. The venue you enter will depend on the day you decide to do your tour: your guide will take you where the best possible music is! You'll also enjoy a drink in the bar.

After an incredible experience listening to live jazz on Frenchmen Street, you'll finish off your guided tour with a visit to the city's night art market, where local artisans show their wares, including handcrafted sculptures and spectacular photographs. The perfect end to a fantastic evening!
