Street Art Tour of Madalena
Starting from your hotel on Pico Island, we will head towards Madalena, the island's picturesque capital.
This fantastic two-hour tour takes us to the principal works of urban art to be found around Madalena and its surroundings. These mural compositions reflect the way of life and culture of the Azores: you will see a fantastic fisherman, a sea lion, a whale, and a woman emerging from the Atlantic waters.
As we admire these wonderful paintings, we will learn why urban artists from all corners of the world travel to Pico Island to unleash their creativity. As we will see, their works give an extra touch of color to the idyllic Azorean landscapes.
Each artwork is an attempt by the artist to convey a message and we will explain what these are, as we see the different pieces. Learning to interpret the murals will also help us to better understand the alternative art that is becoming increasingly popular in the Azores. At the end of the tour, we will take you back to your hotel.
