Santa Bárbara Castle Free Tour

At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Patio de Armas of the castle of Santa Barbara to begin this free tour of one of the largest medieval fortresses in Spain, which stands on Mount Benacantil. Here we go!

Along the tour, we'll discover the hermitage of Santa Bárbara, a small temple with centuries of history, the old Hospital and the Governor's House, which once housed the highest authorities of the city.

During our route, we'll discover the rebellions, betrayals, and fights that have occurred within its walls. Do you know which king starred in a fight to the death in this place?

We'll enter the most emblematic corners of the castle as we reveal the stories and legends that have marked its destiny. What tragic event gave the castle's profile the name of “the face of the monkey”? You will have to wait until the day of the tour to find out!

Next, we'll ascend to the highest and oldest part of the fortress, El Macho del Castell. From this privileged viewpoint, we'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Alicante and the Mediterranean.

After 1.5 hours of sightseeing, we'll say goodbye having learned about the history of the Santa Barbara Castle.
