On this tour, you'll visit Monte Brasil and the natural pools of Biscoitos, two must-see sites in West Terceira. Plus, you'll also get to taste several traditional Azorean cheeses.
West Terceira Van Tour + Cheese Tasting
At the agreed time, we'll pick you up from your selected pickup point in Angra do Heroismo, the capital of the island. Next to this city, we'll find the famous Monte Brasil. Wonder why it has this name? We'll find that out during the tour!
For 40 minutes, we'll take a walking tour of the Monte Brasil peninsula. On this hill, located in the south of Terceira, formed from an extinct tuff volcano, we'll visit two lookout points: the crater viewpoint and the Cruzinhas viewpoint.
After visiting Monte Brasil, we'll continue the tour of Terceira. Along this road trip, we'll make brief photo stops in picturesque villages like São Mateus da Calheta. From there, we'll head to a farm in the island’s interior to enjoy a tasting of cheeses made in the Azores, including the renowned Quiejo Vaquinha. We'll sample a delicious selection of the archipelago’s most renowned brands, whose dairy products are very popular in Portugal.
Our next stop will be at the popular natural pools of Biscoitos, where we'll go for a half-hour walking tour to learn how these lagoons were formed. Hint: as with most natural areas on the Azores, the explanation of its origins has to do with volcanoes.
Lastly, we'll return to your hotel, arriving there between 3-4 hours after pickup.
