At the time you choose, we'll meet at the entrance of the Arehucas distillery and begin a guided tour of its facilities to learn about the history and tradition of one of the most important rum factories in Gran Canaria.
Founded at the end of the 19th century in Arucas, this sugar cane spirit and rum factory has managed to maintain the traditional process of converting sugar cane juice into rum, combining it perfectly with the most modern techniques. During the guided tour, we'll learn about the origins of Arehucas as we walk through the different rooms of the distillery.
The guide will tell us all about the process of making rum, visiting the mill and the fermentation and distillation rooms, not forgetting the bottling plant. Did you know that, following its latest acquisitions, the winery now has more than 4,300 barrels? To complete our visit to the Arehucas distillery, we'll enjoy a tasting of different rums and liqueurs that we have seen being made, the finishing touch to the tour!
The types of rum we'll be tasting have won prestigious international awards. The 12-year-old Ron Añejo Selección Familiar won the Gold Medal Excellencia 2023, the 18-year-old Ron Añejo Selección Familiar won the Gold Medal 2023, and the 7-year-old Arehucas was awarded the Excellente category in the new Peñín Guide.
