Novi Sad, Fruska Gora & Sremski Karlovci + Wine Tasting

  • 60 reviews | 428 travellers
A good day trip from Belgrade, as you get to know the country's second-largest city, see the landscapes, wine-growing region, a monastery, and a baroque village where you can enjoy wine tasting. The pickup and drop-off were well coordinated, there was plenty of time for lunch, and the bus was comfortable. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about what she was explaining.

Tour Details

First thing in the morning, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Belgrade and set off to the Vojvodina region of northern Serbia. Along the way, we'll pass the scenic Pannonian plain.

After about an hour of driving, our first stop will be in Fruška Gora, a national park home to beautiful mountains and often referred to as the jewel of Serbia. We'll visit one of the area's famous medieval Orthodox monasteries, the Krušedol Monastery, a legacy of the Branković family.

We'll then make our way to Sremski Karlovci, a town that has been the cultural and spiritual epicentre of Serbia for more than two centuries despite its small size. We'll explore its historic centre, admiring its Baroque architecture and emblematic monuments such as the Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nicholas and the Patriarchate Court.

Sremski Karlovci is also well known for its winemaking tradition, so we'll take the opportunity to visit a wine shop, where we'll enjoy a tasting of the local wine called Bermet.

After our wine tasting, we'll head to Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia. Located on the Danube, Novi Sad is a treasure trove of different cultures, having been under the rule of diverse empires throughout its history.

We'll visit one of the city's main attractions, the Petrovaradin Fortress, a dazzling example of 18th century European military architecture. On seeing this historic fortification built above the river, you'll soon understand why it has been nicknamed the "Gibraltar of the Danube".

Next, we'll delve into the historic centre of Novi Sad to learn all about its cultural diversity. Did you know the city was chosen as European Capital of Culture for 2021?

After having lunch in Novi Sad (not included in the price), we will return to the meeting point in Belgrade, where we will conclude this 8-hour excursion.
