Hundreds of birds and one of the largest sinkholes in America are the protagonists of this hiking route through the Buraco das Araras. We'll discover a truly unusual natural landscape and see macaws and caimans.
Buraco das Araras Hiking Tour
At the agreed time, we'll meet at the BR-267 road, specifically in the area that connects this road with the natural site of Buraco das Araras. Are you ready to discover one of the most incredible places in the surroundings of Bonito?
Once there, we'll start a hike that will take us to this 127-metre-deep sinkhole (416 feet), the largest in Latin America! We'll explain how this nature reserve was formed while admiring the sandstone landscape.
During the hiking route through the Buraco das Araras we'll make several stops at different viewpoints to observe not only the geological formations of the area, but also the many species of birds that inhabit this place. In fact, the name of this monument in English translates as Macaw Hole. We'll see them flying very closely with their characteristic and striking red plumage.
Accompanied by the guide we'll learn all the secrets of the Buraco das Araras and the flora and fauna that inhabits this sinkhole. In fact, if you look closely, you may even see some of the caimans swimming in the lagoon at the bottom of the cliff.
After an hour's walk through the Buraco das Araras, we'll end the visit at the starting point.
