Delve deep into the beautiful mountain landscapes of Transylvania and Wallachia on this full-day trip from Bucharest. Explore the mystical Bran, known as Dracula's Castle and the Peles palace-castle.
Day Trip Details
After being picked up from your chosen meeting point or your hotel in Bucharest, we'll head north through the mythical forests of Transylvania.
Our first stop takes place in Sinaia, a mountainous town of Wallachia, where we'll visit the imposing Peles Castle. Its halls were used by the Romanian royal family as their summer residence. You'll tour the wide halls, beautifully decorated according to taste at the end of the 19th century, when King Charles I began their construction.
Next, we'll then head to the historic city of Brașov. As we make our way there, we'll learn about this city and its main monuments. Upon arrival, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to stroll the historic city center or grab lunch at any of the local restaurants nearby.
After lunch, we’ll head to Bran Castle. Once there, we’ll share tips for exploring it on your own. You’ll learn about Vlad III “the Impaler,” the sinister 15th-century figure who inspired Bram Stoker’s famous novel Dracula. As you wander through its halls, you’ll discover how this legendary character became a true symbol of Transylvania.
After exploring Bran's Castle, we'll start our return journey back to Bucharest and admire the delightful scenic views from the vehicle.
Admission Tickets
Please note that tickets are not included in the tour price. We recommend purchasing them in advance, as they tend to sell out quickly, especially on weekends and public holidays.
We recommend booking the tickets at least 7 days in advance, but no earlier than 30 days before the visit, as tickets are not released any earlier. Last-minute bookings carry the risk of not finding available tickets for Peleș Castle. In such cases, you may choose to visit Pelișor Castle instead.
Once you've made your booking, your booking confirmation will include instructions on how and during which time slots to purchase your tickets.
Please note that even if you have already purchased your tickets in advance, you'll still have to wait in the queues to access the monument, and security checks may delay entry for a few minutes.
Itinerary Changes
Please keep in mind that Peles Castle is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays year-round. If you do your tour on either of those days, instead of visiting the inside, we'll see the fortress from the outside and, as an added plus, we'll visit an exhibition on medieval torture instruments in Bran.
The itinerary is subject to change depending on traffic and seasonal events like holidays. If visiting during peak season, expect long lines and wait times.
Peles Castle will be closed for general cleaning and maintenance on some days in November to December 2026. Weather permitting, you can visit Pelișor Castle instead. You’ll still have free time to stroll around the Peles Castle grounds.
