On this tour of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Church, we’ll discover the history of one of Moca’s most important monuments. We’ll also put the finishing touch on this visit by tasting the typical Dominican mofongo.
Activity Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at La Victoria Park, right in the heart of the city of Moca. From there, we’ll walk to the most important temple in this town, the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Church.
Inaugurated in the mid-20th century, this church was built on an old parish thanks to donations from parishioners in the province of Espaillat. Did you know it’s listed as Monumental Heritage of the Dominican Republic?
During the tour, we’ll focus on its impressive 110 m (361 ft) tower and enter the interior of the temple to admire its sculptures, multicolored stained-glass windows, and organ. We’ll reveal interesting facts about this religious building, which is considered one of the most beautiful churches in the country.
After visiting the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Church, we’ll board a minibus and head to the southern area of Moca. We’ll get off the vehicle at a local restaurant to taste the typical mofongo from Moca, a traditional dish made with plantain. Its flavor will surprise you!
After 3 hours of activity, we’ll be back at the starting point.
