Tour Highlights
At 8:30 am, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Calama, marking the beginning of this exciting journey to Chiu Chiu and the Poruña Volcano. Get ready to be enchanted by these two Andean gems!
Our first stop is the Conchi Viaduct, also known as the Loa River Viaduct, with an interesting history as an initial route for the railroad from Antofagasta to Bolivia.
Continuing our route in the vehicle, we reach the vicinity of Poruña Volcano, where a 3-kilometer (1.8-mile) hike awaits through this South American and world-record-holder for the smallest crater! Revel in the awe-inspiring views of the Andes Mountains.
Traversing the Lasana Valley, nestled in the canyon of the Loa River, we'll encounter remnants of the region's earliest human settlements, dedicated to agriculture and livestock for centuries.
By 1:30 pm, we'll reach San Francisco de Chiu Chiu, allowing you an hour of free time for lunch on your own. After lunch, we'll explore the historic streets of this town, formerly known as Atacama Chica, and delve into its significant monuments, including the oldest church in Chile—the San Francisco Church!
At 3 pm, our return journey to Calama begins, concluding with your drop-off at your hotel seven hours later.
