Córdoba, Buenavista & Pijao Day Trip
At 9 am, we'll meet at Parque Principal de Calarcá. We'll climb into an all-terrain vehicle and head southbound for the beautiful Colombian coffee-growing axis, one of the country's most famous cultural and geographic regions.
From the jeep, we'll see views of the numerous plantations that characterise this part of the country. We'll see fields of banana, avocado, and citrus trees, and, of course, lots of coffee!
After a 40-minute drive, we'll make our first stop. This will be in Buenavista, a traditional village in the Quindío region. Its name means 'good view' in Spanish, which comes from the incredible views one can see from this town in the Cauca Valley. We'll get to see this for ourselves when we visit the town's famous viewpoint. While we're here, we'll also have a coffee and spend some time strolling around the historic centre and admiring the Plaza de Bolívar and the church.
Next, we'll visit Córdoba, a small village nestled in the lush vegetation of the Colombian coffee-growing axis. We'll discuss how this town has evolved since the moment it was founded at the beginning of the 20th century and have another coffee.
We'll then head to Pijao, which is known as the unhurried village. Don't worry, we'll explain the reason behind this unique nickname as we stroll through the streets!
Feeling peckish? We'll get our energy back with a delicious lunch consisting of traditional Colombian sancocho (a type of broth), sausages, beans, and a drink. We'll have our lunch in either Pijao or Córdoba, depending on the day.
Once we've had some lunch, we'll return to the vehicle and head back to the starting point, where the excursion will come to an end.
