Join us as we set off to discover the secrets that the Cathars left behind in the south of France. At the chosen time, we will meet up in front of the majestic Narbonne Gate of Carcassonne. At this point, we will begin our fantastic private tour of one of the best-preserved walled cities in Europe.
For two hours, we stroll through the historic center of Carcassonne and learn all about its fascinating past. You will discover a brilliant example of medieval defensive architecture with a total of 52 towers. These bastions were built for the protection of the city and surveillance before possible attacks. On the tour, you will find out who the main enemies of Carcassonne were.
Besides learning all about the origin of the walls of Carcassonne, we will also learn about the history of the main monumental jewels of the medieval city. Among them is the beautiful Basilica of Saint-Nazaire, which combines elements of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Its stained glass windows filter the sun's rays in a very special way, giving the temple a special lighting effect.
