At the designated time, we'll meet at the Sheraton Chengdu Lido Hotel and begin this adventure in the heart of the province of Sichuan. Ready to discover two very different major sights in China?
Our first stop will be the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, located just 40 minutes away from the center of Chengdu. Here, we'll embark on a 2.5-hour tour to learn all about this famous species in China.
We'll see pandas of all ages, from adorable pink baby pandas to adults of 4.92 ft (1.5 m). You'll see the pandas play, climb trees, and calmly rest. You'll fall in love with these cute creatures!
Then, we'll set off south to visit the impressive Leshan Giant Buddha, a colossal statue carved in stone over 1,200 years ago. After about 2.5 hours of traveling, we'll reach this monumental complex next to the Min River. Before the visit, we'll make a quick stop so you can have lunch on your own.
After lunch, for 2 hours, we'll explore the surroundings of the Giant Buddha, a sculpture standing at 236 ft (72 m) tall that represents Maitreya, the Buddha of the future. We'll walk on the cliff's trail, descend along the famous walk of "Nine Curves," and reach the base of this incredible figure to see its immensity from different angles.
Finally, we'll start our journey back to Chengdu and say our goodbyes close to Tianfu Square after 10 to 11 hours.
