If you can't decide between a safari in the Bandia Reserve or enjoying the waters of beautiful Lac Rose, then why not choose both with our comprehensive trip from Dakar.
Private Trip Details
We'll pick you up at the scheduled time from your hotel in Dakar and head to the first stop on the itinerary, Bandia Nature Reserve. In these spectacular wilderness areas, you'll discover a magical forest of baobab trees that are native to the African savanna.
When we arrive in Bandia, we'll get down from the bus and climb up into an all-terrain vehicle to begin a genuine adventure in this huge nature reserve. If you have ever dreamt of taking part in an African safari, then this is your opportunity. You'll encounter zebras, rhinos, giraffes, monkeys, buffalos, and ostriches in their natural habitat.
After enjoying a thrilling tour of the nature reserve, we'll then head to Lac Rose (the Pink Lake), which is famous for having been the last stage of the Paris-Dakar Rally up until 2008. Upon arriving, you'll have your own free time to eat before we set off on an exciting 4x4 tour around this stunning lake of pink waters which is only separated from the ocean by a row of sand dunes.
There, you'll witness inhabitants extracting the salt from the lake, using traditional techniques which date back centuries. If there is time, you'll also have the chance to take a 15 minute dip in the gorgeous rose-coloured water. At the end of the ATV trip, we climb back onto the bus and return to Dakar between 9 to 10 hours after the start of the activity.
Lac Rose
- Please bear in mind that, during the rainy season in Senegal, the lack of sunshine means the colour fades during these months. This usually happens between August and October.
- Swimming in Lac Rose will only take place if the weather permits. If we have enough time, you’ll have around 15 minutes to enjoy the lake’s salty waters. Don’t forget your swimwear!
