Boat Trip to Granadilla

Ready to venture into one of the most beautiful and fascinating abandoned places in Extremadura? At the scheduled time, you'll have to go to the Centro Internacional de Innovación Deportiva-El Anillo and hop into a boat for a pleasant trip on the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir.

During the boat trip, you'll admire the scenery surrounding the reservoir and keep your eyes peeled for some of the birds that inhabit this area. After a 30-minute boat trip, you'll arrive at the destination: Granadilla.

When you get there, you'll have 2.5 hours to explore this medieval walled village on your own. This ghost town was also one of the filming locations for the Spanish film Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! ("¡Átame!" in Spanish), which was directed by Pedro Almódovar and starred Antonio Banderas.

Granadilla was left uninhabited in the mid-20th century following a flood warning caused by construction works taking place on the reservoir. You'll be able to explore this Historic-Artistic Site and see iconic buildings such as the town hall and the Church of the Assumption. In addition, you'll also get to see Granadilla Castle, which dates back to the 15th century.

It'll then be time to return to the boat and head back to the starting point, where you'll arrive after an unforgettable 3.5-hour adventure.
