Here's what makes each route different:
Half-Day Tour (3.5 Hours)
First, we'll walk along the iconic Bai Causeway, a famous path at Hangzhou's West Lake named after the poet Bai Juyi. The scenery along this trail changes with the 4 seasons: peach trees in spring, willows in summer, osmanthus in autumn, and snow in winter, each with its own unique charm.
Our next stop will be the Lingyin Temple, the most important Buddhist temple in southeastern China. During the visit, we'll step inside this sanctuary built in 326 AD. There, we'll see the Feilai Feng, or "Flying Peak," located at the entrance of the temple, and explore its halls filled with limestone-carved statues.
Throughout the tour, we'll learn all kinds of fascinating facts about this famous ancient Buddhist monastery tucked away among the lush hills near West Lake. We'll also discover why it's known for its serene atmosphere and magnificent rock-carved sculptures.
After this visit, we'll head to Hefang, which has been Hangzhou's busiest commercial street for 1,000 years and has kept its original look and old-world charm.
Full-Day Tour (8.5 Hours)
We'll start this tour of Hangzhou following the same route as the half-day itinerary, visiting the Bai Causeway and the Lingyin Temple first.
After that, you'll have 1 hour of free time to grab lunch near the temple. Once you've recharged, we'll visit the Longjing green tea fields. It's a vast plantation right in Hangzhou where we'll learn how one of China's most famous products is grown.
After exploring the fields, we'll walk back to the West Lake area to admire the Leifeng Pagoda, the first pagoda in China to be built with carved copper.
Finally, we'll wrap up the tour on Hefang Commercial Street.
