On this day trip to Matala, we'll visit heavenly beaches and one of the most famous hippie colonies in Europe. Did you know that it was an important location according to Greek mythology?
We'll pick you up at the scheduled time to cross the plain of Messara towards Matala, a mythical location that became famous in the 60s.
First, we'll visit this site, which was used as a port by the Romans and Minoans, and discover how Matala became a hippie colony whose members occupied caves carved into the rock during the Roman period.
And, of course, we cannot forget the mythological past of this enclave to which, according to Greek tradition, the god Zeus took the Phoenician princess Europa after abducting her as a white bull.
You'll have four hours of free time in Matala to enjoy its pristine beaches, among which the Red and Kommos beaches stand out; stroll among its craft stalls, taste the local gastronomy and visit the famous sandstone caves where the hippies live.
Lastly, we'll meet again to return to the starting point, where we'll arrive eight hours after pickup.
