Immerse yourself in the natural landscapes of the Mekong Delta on this two-day tour and discover its rice paddies, rivers and floating markets.
Mekong Delta 2-Day Tour
On the morning of your first day, we'll leave the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City behind and head towards the Mekong Delta. This region covers more than 15,600 square miles (40,500 square kilometres) of southwestern Vietnam and is home to a wealth of biodiversity. On arrival in the town of My Tho, we'll board a boat that will set sail through the delta on a tour of the Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Tortoise Islands.
We'll make a stop at Unicorn Island where we'll have the chance to experience the daily life of the locals in the Mekong Delta, seeing their vegetable gardens and listening to traditional Vietnamese music. We'll also visit a tropical fruit plantation, where you'll be amazed by the vibrant colours and unusual shapes.
Paddling onwards along the Thoi Son Canal, you'll be enchanted by the beauty of the countryside around you. We'll make a stop at bee-keeping centre, where you'll be able to taste tea with honey, before we head to a factory which makes different products from coconuts. Indulge in Vietnam's delicious cuisine at lunch, when we'll eat typical regional foods such as shrimp soup, fried banana flower or rice with eggs in a local home.
After lunch, we'll swap from paddling to pedalling, leaving our boat behind and climbing onto bicycles for the next part of our tour. We'll then cycle through the lush green landscapes of the canals and rice paddies and explore the village of Tan Thach. If you'd prefer not to do the bike tour, you can choose to relax in a hammock instead.
At the end of a full day discovering the Mekong Delta, we'll head to Can Tho, where we'll spend the night in a hotel. You'll have free time to spend the rest of the day as you wish, and to eat dinner (not included).
After an early start for breakfast at our hotel, we'll set off to the floating market of Cai Rang, the largest in Vietnam. You'll be captivated by the vivid colours of these lively Vietnamese markets, where hundreds of boats exchange and sell all manner of different products.
Our next stop will be at a fruit orchard and a noodle factory, typical of the Mekong Delta. We'll then head to Binh Thuy, where we'll visit a beautiful French colonial style building that's over 200 years old, and the colourful Musir Ansay Pagoda.
On the way back to Ho Chi Minh City, we'll stop at a local restaurant to renew our energy with a delicious lunch of typical Vietnamese dishes, before dropping you back off in the city.
This two-day tour includes one night's accommodation with breakfast in Can Tho. The planned hotel is the Hau Giang 2 Hotel or similar, and you'll be staying in rooms with a maximum occupancy of two people.
