At the indicated time we'll pick you up at your hotel in João Pessoa and set off on a tour of the cinematographic heart of Brazil, the city of Cabaceiras, popularly known as the Roliúde Nordestina. Let's go!
We'll leave João Pessoa behind and drive 200 kilometers (124 miles) to Cabaceiras, where we'll arrive after a comfortable 3.5-hour drive. Along the way, we'll marvel at the stunning Brazilian natural landscape passing us by. Keep your eyes peeled as the Atlantic Forest morphs into the unique Caatinga biome, exclusive to Brazil.
Our first stop will be at the famous Roliúde Nordestina sign, inaugurated in 2007. As we continue, we'll see why Cabaceiras is a popular location for national film productions, including the award-winning film Auto da Compadecida. Curious why this destination is so coveted by film directors? We'll tell you all about it during the visit! A sneak peek: it has something to do with its arid climate and low rainfall.
From here, we'll continue to the historic center of the city, featuring the typical architecture of the 18th century. We'll be captivated by its houses with colorful facades and wide streets that transport you to another era.
Anybody hungry? We'll give you some free time for lunch before hopping into our vehicle and heading to the Ribeira neighborhood. Here, we'll admire the work of local leather craftsmen, the perfect spot for snagging an authentic souvenir!
As we move on, we'll make our way to the Lajedo de Pai Mateus. We'll climb about 700 meters (2,296 feet), formed by a rare rock formation that is said to have a special mystical energy. To put the cherry on top, we'll stay up here until sunset for an incredible golden hour experience.
Finally, we'll return to João Pessoa, where we'll finish the tour after 15.5 hours of travel.
