Immerse yourself in the exuberant nature of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park on a 6.5-hour hiking tour accompanied by an expert guide.
Caldera de Taburiente Hiking Tour
We will commence our route from the Caldera de Taburiente Visitors Center. Here, your guide specialized in hiking will give you brief instructions to follow throughout the trek.
This challenging 16-kilometre (10 mile) trail offers incredible views of the Caldera de Taburiente, one of the largest craters in the world, and one of the top attractions of “La Isla Bonita”. Cross the forest road on a 4x4 vehicle until you get to Los Brecitos Viewpoint, standing over 1,000 meters (3280 feet) high.
Hop off the jeep and begin your hike through a path that will lead you to the camping area of Taburiente. On the way, discover the extraordinary and lush vegetation of La Palma, garnished with enormous pine trees, labdanum trees, willow, cedars, and other many species. At the camping area you will have free time to rest, regain strength or swim in the refreshing Taburiente River, surrounded by the rugged peaks of La Caldera.
After resting, restart your hike up to Dos Aguas, known as “Two Waters” because of the confluence of the Taburiente River and Almendro Amargo River. The union of these two waterways is responsible for the landscape of Las Angustias Ravine, a protected area with different layers of volcanic material.
The route will come to an end back at the Caldera de Taburiente Visitors Center.
