Design, culture and nature come together in the work of local artist César Manrique created on the island. Discover his major works on this full day excursion.

César Manrique Tour Itinerary

Having picked you up, we make our way to Mozaga, found in the centre of Lanzarote.

In this village we will see the first of César Manrique's works on this tour dedicated to the legacy he left on the island. We'll take in the "Monumento al Campesino" (Monument to the Peasant), a homage to rural life. Inside we will appreciate the various tools used in local agriculture, then continue, passing through Teguise and continuing to Haria, where we will stop to admire the natural beauty of the Valle de las Mil Palmeras (Thousand Palm Valley). After we'll make our way to the north-western part of the island.

Our next stop is at the El Rio Viewpoint, designed by César Manrique. Its viewing galleries and panoramic terraces allow spectacular views of La Graciosa island, the largest on the Chinijo archipelago. At 2 pm we will make a stop in the North of Lanzarote, where you are free to have lunch at your own pace, and enjoy the delicious Canarian food.

Having eaten we'll make our way to Punta Mujeres and Malpais de La Corona, one of the largest volcanoes in the area. Here you can choose between visiting the Cueva de los Verdes (Cave of Greens) or los Jameos del Agua. From here we'll hit the road towards Guatiza to visit another of César Manrique's important creations: The Cactus Garden. In this unique volcanic area, can be found an important botanical garden where you can appreciate more than a thousand species of cactus from The Canaries, Africa, America and more.

Then we will head to Tahíche to see the César Manrique Foundation. Here we can visit the Volcano House, where the artist himself lived. It's a unique space, with swimming pools, gardens, and even a dancefloor!

From here we return to the hotels, arriving late in the evening.

Visit to the Jameos del Agua or Cueva de los Verdes

The tour will pass through the Punta Mujeres area, in the North of Lanzarote. When we arrive, you should let us know if you would prefer to visit the Jameos del Agua or Cueva de los Verdes. The ticket for one or the other is included in the price of the trip, but you may only visit one:

La Cueva de los Verdes: with the eruption of the La Corona Volcano this natural grotto was created whose interior houses an impressive secret which, of course, we will not reveal here. You'll have to visit Lanzarote if you want to uncover it's mystery...

  • Jameos del Agua: when the roof of a lava tube (a type of cave or tunnel formed when lava forms a hard crust) fell in it formed a natural cave called a Jameo. This part of the island is the habitat of one particular species: a small blind albino crab. And inside it is possible to visit some of the works designed by César Manrique, including an auditorium, a swimming pool, a restaurant and gardens.
