Discover incredible volcanic landscapes with this excursion around Lanzarote, which takes you to the Timanfaya National Park and the spectacular Jameos del Agua.
Timanfaya and the Jameos del Agua Tour Itinerary
Having picked you up at your hotel, we begin our tour around Lanzarote with the western part of the Island.
We make our first stop in el Golfo. In this volcanic area, known for its beauty, we will reach the Charco de los Clicos otherwise known as "The Green Lake" - whose unusual colour is a result of the algae and sulphur in its waters. The beauty of the lake did not go unnoticed by Pedro Almodovar, who shot one of the main scenes of Spanish movie "Los Abrazos Rotos" (Broken Embraces) here, with Penelope Cruz.
We will continue the route a little further southwards to see the fascinating Los Hervidores, steep cliffs full of marine grottoes. Just around the corner, the dazzling Janubio Salt Pans provide a white contrast to the arid landscape of the region: an area which is one of the most important salt production centres in the Canaries.
Our next destination will be the Timanfaya National Park. We will pass through its almost lunar landscape, splashing in the volcanic craters. The force of nature in this place is undeniable: something we will put to the test with practical demonstrations in the geyzers in the park. And for those who want, there is the possibility of a camel ride around the Timanfaya Park.
Leaving the park, we'll pass through the picturesque villages of Yaiza and Uga towards La Geria. In this volcanic region the best wines on the island are cultivated, and we will visit a vineyard to try a glass of Lanzarote's finest, appreciating its tastes and scents. Bacchus' wine will give us an appetite, so from here we make our way to Mancha Blanca, where we have free time to have lunch.
Having eaten, we make our way to the North of the island to see the works of the great architect and artist César Manrique. First of all we take in the "Monument to the Peasant" in homage to the rural population of the island, before passing through the famous "Valley of a Thousand Palms" to see his second work: the Jameos del Agua. This space made from a volcanic tunnel is part auditorium, part restaurant and part swimming pool - the natural environment completed with a lake, the habitat of the diminutive blind crabs only found in Lanzarote.
From here the tour returns, dropping you off at the popular tourist areas.
