Visiting Westminster Abbey is a must for all travellers that wish to understand the history of Britain. The church welcomes over one million visitors each year who are curious to explore the religious edifice where every British monarch has been coronated since 1066. In the past decade, Princess Diana’s funeral was held in the Abbey and Prince William and Kate Middleton said "I do" before the eyes of millions.
You’ll admire the building’s impressive Gothic structure and visit Lady Chapel, one of the Abbey’s most impressive chapels. You’ll also be able to appreciate The Coronation Chair up close, which has been used at every coronation ceremony since 1308.
Westminster Abbey is also famous for housing the tombs of renowned historical figures, including British and English monarchs, statesmen, writers, poets and scientists. In the Poet’s Corner, you’ll find the tombs of great literary artists such as Charles Dickens, Geoffrey Chaucer and Rudyard Kipling. There is also a sanctuary dedicated to Emily Brontë, T.S. Eliot, Oscar Wilde and Jane Austen, among others.

- Saturday: 9:30am – 1:00pm.
- Sundays and religious holidays: Westminster Abbey is open for worship only.
Every day from Monday to Friday, Westminster Abbey will remain closed for worship from midday to 1 pm. If you visit the Abbey before midday, you can attend the service free of charge.
There are special opening hours on some days in January 2019, on Friday 18th January it will be closed all day and on the 31st January 2019 it will only be open from 2 pm until 3:30 pm.
