Trip Details
Day 1: Medellín – Jericó – Finca Bonnavista
Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Medellín and head southwest aboard an off-roading vehicle. After a journey surrounded by mountains, we’ll arrive in Jericó to enjoy a traditional mountain breakfast: rice and beans calentado, arepa, fresh cheese, chicharrón or chorizo, and a hot chocolate. Delicious!
With renewed energy, we’ll begin a guided tour of this Heritage Town. We’ll visit the Main Square and enter a carrieles workshop, where we’ll learn about the artisan legacy of the Agudelo family. We’ll continue to the House of Saint Laura, the birthplace of Colombia’s first saint, and explore the three sections of the MAJA Museum (Modern Art, Music, and Decorative Arts). Before leaving, we’ll head up to the Cristo Rey viewpoint for the best panoramic view of the town.
At midday, we’ll travel to Finca Bonnavista, near the Cauca River. Here, we’ll be welcomed with a cocktail before enjoying an outdoor barbecue. You’ll also have the option to go paragliding, and the afternoon will be free to relax by the pool and rest until the next day.
Day 2: Finca Bonnavista – Jardín – Medellín
We’ll wake up early for breakfast and set off for Jardín, an architectural gem that seems frozen in time. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a snack at the iconic Café Macanas, one of the most photogenic spots in town.
Accompanied by a local guide, we’ll explore the Main Square and visit the impressive Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. At midday, we’ll enjoy a full coffee experience at a renowned farm: we’ll dress as coffee pickers and learn about the washing, drying, and roasting process. We’ll finish with a barista class to taste export-quality coffee.
After lunch, where trout will be the highlight, we’ll head up to the viewpoints to take in the valley in all its beauty. Before returning, we’ll visit the “Del Jardín” candy factory, with more than 100 artisanal varieties. Our final stop will be at the Andean cock-of-the-rock reserve, where we’ll observe this iconic bird during its afternoon display.
Finally, we’ll return to Medellín, arriving at your hotel at approximately 7:30 pm.
