  • Dachau Concentration Camp Day Trip

The trip was well planned. Our train and bus connections went well without problems. Our tour guide Eileen was well knowledgeable of the history of the Dachau Concentration Camp and she was easy to get along with. She always checked that everyone was there. She gave us time to visit the different areas of the camp along with the visitors center and even offered to take people to Marienplatz afterwards. I would highly recommend this tour and it was approximately 5 hours.

Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt market, the famous Hofbräuhaus beer hall, the Frauenkirche cathedral, the English Garden, the Residenz palace and the BMW Museum.

How much time do you need to visit Munich?

2 days are enough to see the highlights of the historic center. However, if you want to visit museums such as the BMW Museum and Nymphenburg Palace, and take a trip to Neuschwanstein Castle or Dachau, it is best to allow between 3 and 5 days.

When is the best season to visit Munich?

Summer, especially between June and August, has the best weather to enjoy the Biergärten (beer gardens). If you're looking for tradition, the Oktoberfest is celebrated at the end of September. However, December is magical thanks to its Christmas markets, despite the cold.

What to do in Munich in 1 day?

If you only have a day, it's best to explore the historic center to capture the essence of the city at a leisurely pace. You can start at Marienplatz and climb up the tower of Alter Peter to enjoy the best panoramic views of the center. Then, head to the Viktualienmarkt. Here, you can purchase food at the stands and eat at the tables of its central Biergarten. Walk around the area of the Opera and the Residenz, and stroll along the luxurious street of Maximilianstraße until you reach the Englischer Garten. Here, you can enjoy a drink under the Chinesischer Turm. End the day with a traditional dinner at the Hofbräuhaus.

How do I get from Munich Airport to the city center?

The best way to get to the Munich Airport is by train (lines S1 and S8), which takes about 40-45 minutes. You can also book a private transfer with Civitatis to travel directly to your hotel comfortably.

Is it worth it to buy a Munich Card or the Munich City Pass?

It depends on your plans. The Munich Card offers free transport and discounts, while the Munich City Pass includes admission to the main attractions. If you plan to visit more than 2 or 3 museums a day, the City Pass usually pays for itself quickly.

How does public transport work in Munich?

What time does the Glockenspiel in Marienplatz chime?
