Tour Details
We'll meet up right in the heart of the historic center at the scheduled time to kick off our free tour of Naples. Ready to get to know the capital of Campania? Let's go!
We’ll start the tour by admiring the monuments at Piazza del Plebiscito, one of the biggest squares in Italy. It’s a massive porticoed space designed during the Napoleonic era. While we're here, we'll check out the square's dramatic layout and its symbolic role as a stage for civic power.
We'll take in the exterior of the Royal Palace of Naples and the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, a gem of Italian Neoclassicism. Its circular floor plan and semicircular colonnade are a deliberate nod to the Pantheon in Rome.
Next, we’ll walk through the neighboring Piazza Trieste e Trento to see the San Carlo Theater, the oldest active opera house in the world, which opened back in 1737. Did you know it survived fires and wars with its acoustics still perfectly intact?
Right nearby, we'll discover the Umberto I Gallery, a sophisticated 19th-century shopping arcade covered by a Parisian-inspired iron and glass dome. Finally, we'll wrap up the tour in the center of Naples.
