Tour of the Naples National Archaeological Museum
Tour of the Naples National Archaeological Museum
At the time of your choice, we'll meet in front of the National Archaeological Museum ticket office to start a tour of one of the most important collections in Naples.
After a brief introduction, we'll begin our tour of the permanent exhibition by visiting the Farnese collection. As we'll see, this extraordinary sculptural display brings together a large compendium of Greco-Latin pieces. Some of the stand-out pieces include the statue of Hercules, the statue of the Farnese bull, and the set of busts of the Roman emperors.
The tour will then continue in the rooms of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Here, we'll see a large collection of pieces that were buried by volcanic lava after the eruption of Vesuvius, which took place on August 29, 79 AD.
We'll discover what this natural disaster meant for the Roman Empire and continue exploring other rooms of the collection. We'll also stop in front of the famous mosaic of the Battle of Issus, showing Alexander the Great fighting against the Persian Darius III.
Finally, we'll conclude the tour by returning to the main entrance of the museum after 2 hours. You'll be able to explore the museum more on your own until closing time, if you'd like.
