Discover two of Mexico's famous Magic Towns and their traditions on our day trip to Huasca de Ocampo and Mineral del Monte. You'll also attend a fun pottery workshop!
Huasca de Ocampo & Mineral del Monte Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Pachuca and set off on a day trip to some of the most iconic places in the Mexican state of Hidalgo.
To begin, we'll head to the municipality of Huasca de Ocampo. This Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town) is well-known for its traditional pottery. When we get there, we'll visit the workshop of a craftsman who'll show us how the clay is moulded. Afterwards, you'll make your own piece of pottery... with your feet!
Next, we'll visit the Basaltic Prisms, a unique hexagonal geological formation that'll remind you of Northern Ireland's Giant's Causeway. We'll then head to the Casa del Rompope, where you'll be able to try rompope. This drink is similar to eggnog and is a liqueur made from eggs, milk and vanilla.
Afterwards, we'll head to another Pueblo Mágico. This would be Mineral del Monte, a traditional mining town. We'll discuss the history of the Count of Regla and the English settlers who arrived here in the 19th century to work the mines. As we explore the town, we'll see the influence and legacy left behind by the British.
Once you've had some lunch on your own, we'll visit the Pasty Museum. This traditional local food can trace its origins back to England. We'll then head to the English Pantheon to see the tomb of Richard Bell, a famous clown who created his own circus.
We'll return to Pachuca and take you back to your hotel 9 hours after pickup.
