Bellver Castle Free Tour

Discover Bellver Castle in a completely different way on this free tour, combining a walk through the forest with a full guided visit to one of the most unique fortresses in Europe.

Tour Details

This experience begins at Plaça Gomila and, rather than heading straight to the monument, we'll start at the foot of the beautiful forest and make a gradual 20 to 30-minute walk uphill, with stops along the way. It's an easy hike suitable for all fitness levels.

As we climb, we'll set the historical and strategic scene, explaining why the castle was built on this particular spot, standing 112 meters (367 feet) above sea level and commanding the entire Bay of Palma. This first stretch lets us connect with the natural surroundings and experience the castle as it would have been perceived in the Middle Ages: a fortress revealing itself little by little as you approach.

Along the way, we'll stop at the Chapel of San Alonso Rodríguez, better known as Sa Capelleta, built in 1885. We'll talk about the castle's origins, the figure of King James II of Mallorca, and the defensive purpose of the complex, setting the scene for the visit inside.

Once we reach the top, we'll cross the access bridge over the moat and explore the castle's most important spaces, from the Courtyard of Arms and the functional lower floor to the noble quarters, the Torre Mayor, and the panoramic viewpoint.

After 2 hours, we'll wrap up the tour on the castle terraces, with the whole bay at our feet.

Walking Route

Please note that this tour includes an uphill walk through the forest. If you'd prefer to skip this section, you can make your own way to the castle by car or taxi and join the group at the main entrance next to the stairs around 20 to 30 minutes after the tour starts. In this case, please let the local team know in advance so they can organize accordingly.
