Laguna Sofía Horseback Ride
Activity Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Natales and head to Laguna Sofía, one of the most peaceful natural spots in the Magallanes region. Once we’re ready, we’ll leave the urban environment behind and venture into a landscape dominated by mountains, grasslands, and lakes.
Upon arriving at the starting point, we’ll give you a safety briefing with basic instructions for the horseback ride. No prior experience is necessary, as we’ll explain how to mount, maintain a comfortable posture, and communicate with the horse during the ride. Additionally, we’ll provide you with the necessary equipment: helmets, leather chaps, and saddles with saddlebags and sheep’s wool saddle pads.
Afterward, we’ll set out on a horseback ride around Laguna Sofía. For 1 hour, we’ll cover a total of 5 kilometers (3.11 mi) of trails surrounded by the Southern Patagonian wilderness. We’ll move at a leisurely pace while taking in the panoramic views of the lake and the nearby slopes. Did you know that this area is one of the best spots near Puerto Natales for spotting condors? With a little luck, we’ll see these enormous birds gliding over the mountains, accompanied by other species.
As we ride, we’ll also discuss the region’s history and culture, which is closely tied to rural life, livestock farming, and the exploration of the Magallanes landscapes.
Once the tour is over, we’ll return to the starting point, where we’ll say goodbye to our fellow travelers and head back to your hotel. There, we’ll say our goodbyes after a total of 3.5 hours on the tour.
