Discover a beautiful and unique spot in the Andes on our Atillo Lagons Day Trip. We'll set off from Riobamba and walk through a misty, scenic area bursting with lush greenery.
Atillo Lagons Day Trip
Once we've picked you up from your hotel in Riobamba at 8 am, we'll set off for the Atillo Lagoons. These beautiful lakes are part of the Sangay National Park. Let's go!
On our way there, we'll pass through some rural Indigenous communities until we come to the viewpoint of the lakes. From here, we'll gaze out at views of Cuyo, Colay and Atillo Lakes. We'll then stroll to the Negra Lagoon, an aquifer with black water that also harbours a dark Puruhae legend.
Next, we'll go on a short walk so we can learn more about the area's plantlife. We'll discuss plants such as the lupinus, the chocho de páramo, the valeriana and the flor de páramo. In addition, we'll also see some migratory cuvivis birds.
Anyone peckish? Our next stop will be to have a traditional lunch that'll consist of grilled trout accompanied by salad with vegetables, cooked corn and cheese sauce.
After lunch, we'll head to the Chalán ravine to see the footprints of 40,000-year-old Pleistocene mastodons. Wow!
It'll then be time to head back to Riobamba. We'll drop you off at your hotel at 5 pm. See you next time!
