5-Day Tour Description
Day 1: Riohacha – Manaure beaches
On the first day of our tour, we'll travel from Riohacha to Manaure, known as "the white bride of Columbia." On the way, admire the most fascinating places of La Guajira, such as the Manaure Salt Flats and the Los Flamencos Flora and Fauna Sanctuary.
After finishing those activities, we'll enjoy some Colombian cuisine as we have lunch at the sea. Later, we'll enjoy a visit to a Wayúu ranch, before making our way to our accommodation in Manaure.
Day 2: Manaure – Cabo de la Vela
On the second day of our 5-day tour of La Guajira, we'll start the day by having a delicious breakfast at the hotel. At 8 am, we'll start heading to Cabo de la Vela. On route, we'll make a stop at the municipality of Uribia, the indigenous capital of Columbia, before stopping at a restaurant to eat.
In the afternoon we'll arrive at Cabo de la Vela, where we'll admire its most fascinating features, such as Arcoíris Beach, Pilón de Azúcar Beach, Ojo de Agua Beach, and the lighthouse.
We'll conclude the day with dinner at the hotel in Cabo de la Vela.
Day 3: Cabo de la Vela – Punta Gallinas
In the morning, we'll have breakfast before continuing our route through La Guajira. On the way to Punta Gallinas, we'll pass the main tourist attractions of the region, such as the Jepirachi wind farm and the deserts of Puerto Nuevo and Portete, Bahía Honda and Bahía Hondita. Once in Punta Gallinas, we'll recover our strength with lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll visit the point where the sky, the desert and the sea merge into a postcard image. Of course, we'll have free time to refresh ourselves in the crystal clear waters of the beach of the Taroa dunes, before visiting the lighthouse of Punta Gallinas. Did you know that it is the most northern point of South America?
After all the visits, we'll end the day with dinner at the accommodation in Punta Gallinas.
Day 4: Punta Gallinas – Nazareth
In the early hours of the day, we'll have breakfast while enjoying the scenery of Punta Gallinas. From there, we'll drive to Nazareth, where we'll arrive around lunchtime.
In the afternoon, we'll visit La Makuira National Park, where we'll discover an amazing oasis in the middle of the La Guajira desert. Lush vegetation, crystalline waters and waterfalls that seem to be taken from another world are the highlights of this dreamlike location.
After this tour of the park, we'll go to the accommodation in Nazareth to eat dinner and rest.
Day 5: Nazareth – Riohacha
Our last day of this 5-day tour will begin with breakfast in Nazareth. As soon as we're refuelled, we'll start our journey to Riohacha, enjoying the landscapes that we leave behind as we leave the marvellous desert of La Guajira.
We'll arrive at Riohacha at around 2 pm.
