When you make your reservation, you can choose one of the following options. All of them will take place at the time of your choice at the Kakaw Cocoa Museum in San Cristóbal de las Casas:
Visit + Tasting (45 Minutes)
We'll begin this guided tour of Kakaw, the Cacao Museum of San Cristóbal de las Casas by visiting the different rooms of the permanent exhibition.
During the tour, we'll learn about the origins of cocoa and, more specifically, the history of this product in this part of Mexico, going back to pre-Columbian times.
We'll also see a large collection of pots, containers, and utensils that have been used to taste and process chocolate throughout history.
To end the visit to the museum, we'll enjoy a delicious tasting that includes two chocolates of different percentages of cocoa and a Mexican chocolate awarded by the International Chocolate Awards.
Times: this activity takes place at 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm, and 7 pm.
Visit + Sensory Tasting (1 Hour 45 Minutes)
With this option, we'll take the same guided tour of the Kakaw Museum as described in the previous option.
Afterward, we'll enjoy a sensory chocolate tasting. We'll taste cocoa beans, cocoa nibs and chocolates of different percentages, taking into account different perspectives of sight, touch, smell and taste.
Times: this activity takes place at 12 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm.
Visit + Cocoa Workshop (2 Hours 45 Minutes)
In this case, after the guided tour of the museum, we'll enjoy a fun cocoa workshop. We'll learn how to roast, peel and grind cocoa to make a chocolate bar.
At the end of the workshop, you'll be able to drink the chocolate you created and take the rest home in the form of a bar.
