Theth Tour
At the agreed time we'll pick you up from your hotel in Shkodra and head north to visit Theth, a real natural paradise in the Albanian Alps. Get your camera ready... You'll love it!
Before arriving in Theth, we'll make a stop at the Qafe Thore viewpoint, an old guard station from where we'll have a fascinating panoramic view of the Theth valley. We'll continue on to the small mountain village of Theth, a place steeped in history.
Upon arrival, we'll head to a bujtina, a kind of local hostel, where we'll get to know the more traditional side of Theth. Founded in the 17th century by Albanian Catholics as a refuge from the Ottoman invasion, this village has been isolated from the rest of the world for more than three centuries and is a real haven of peace!
Afterwards, we'll explore the streets of Theth on foot, discovering its church and its iconic tower houses. We'll also see the church of Theth, built in 1892 and renovated in 2005. One of the highlights of the day will be seeing the Reconciliation Tower, a symbol of an Albania that no longer exists, linked to traditional family feuds. The tower was in fact used as a shelter in case of blood revenge 'gjakmarrja' during these family feuds. We'll also enjoy the stunning natural environment that surrounds Theth throughout the tour.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Shkodra after eight hours of sightseeing.
