Once we arrive at our destination, we'll leave you 1.5 hours of free time to visit the beautiful town of Montalcino. You can take the opportunity to visit the exterior of its 19th-century neoclassical cathedral, admire the monumental medieval tower of the Piazza del Popolo and buy some souvenirs.
Afterwards, we'll meet again to visit a wine cellar to discover all the secrets of the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine, a Denomination of Origin that enjoys great international fame. It's time to find out why!
We'll visit the barrel room of the winery to learn about the ageing process of this drink. We'll also talk about the peculiarities of the Sangiovese grape, the fruit used for the production of Brunello. Did you know that it's known as the bleeding grape? It's believed that this variety was already used to produce wine in the time of the Ancient Roman Empire.
The visit to the winery will conclude with an exquisite wine tasting in which we'll taste this famous red wine, accompanied by some typical sausages such as salami. Delicious!
