Southern Highlands Kangaroo & Wombat Tour

  • 15 reviews | 20 travellers
The excursion was wonderful. Our guide Dave was great, always attentive to everyone in the group. We don't know English and he tried hard to explain everything to us. At the end of the tour he took us to our hotel. The excursion far exceeded our highest expectations. I recommend this excursion, it is fantastic.

Description

If you're in Sydney and haven't yet met Australia's most famous inhabitants, let's go and see kangaroos and wombats in the wild! To do this, we'll meet at the meeting point of your choice at the indicated time and head south. National parks, breathtaking waterfalls, and lots of local wildlife are waiting for you.

First, we'll head to Sublime Point Lookout, located on the edge of a 420-metre-high (1377-foot) cliff from where we'll have stunning panoramic views of Sydney's South Shore. What's more, if you pay attention, you can even see Pacific whales!

After this stop, we'll continue travelling along one of the most beautiful roads in Australia until we reach the Macquarie Pass National Park. Welcome to the tropical rainforest of the country! We'll ascend towards this mountain while learning all the details of the flora that surrounds us.

If you've worked up an appetite, how about a sweet touch in the morning? To do so, we'll head to the famous Robertson Pie Shop, where you can pick up one of their award-winning pies.

Afterwards, we'll continue our journey into the Australian outback to see one of the country's great natural spectacles, the Fitzroy Falls. Located in Morton National Park, these impressive waterfalls slide down enormous orange sandstone cliffs, creating an enchanting sight to behold. While strolling through this terrain, you'll also have the opportunity to see the different types of birds that fly over the area around Fitzroy Falls.

The day's next stop will be at Carrington Falls in Budderoo National Park. Eucalyptus forests, a 90-metre (295-foot) drop and a wealth of local flora and fauna await you in this Australian park.

To round off the day, we'll head into the Southern Highlands to see the friendly wombats and kangaroos in the wild. We'll learn about these typical Australian animals while enjoying a barbecue lunch. You'll also have free time to explore the area and say hello to these beautiful animals.

Finally, we'll return to the starting point and end the excursion after 10 hours of activity.
