Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Piazza Pantheon in Syracuse to start our adventure towards Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. During the 1.5-hour journey, we'll make a few stops at different viewpoints to enjoy spectacular views of the surroundings—be prepared to take some amazing photos!
We'll reach an altitude of 2,000 meters (6,561 feet), where we'll begin to explore the wonders of this majestic volcano. We'll learn about its fascinating history, its natural environment and the effects of recent eruptions. Plus, we'll visit extinct craters, a sample of the impressive force of nature.
From this point, we'll take a guided hike along the trails of the Etna Park. If you prefer, instead of this activity, you can hire a tour with an expert mountaineer and specialized transport to the crater area at the summit, 3,000 meters (9,842 miles) above sea level.
Afterward, we'll leave you some free time for lunch. Then, after about 3 hours on Etna, we'll head to a lava cave, where with helmets and torches we will discover the inside of these volcanic formations, a fascinating experience that will not leave you indifferent!
Before returning to Syracuse, we'll make our last stop at a local farm. Here, we'll enjoy a tasting of honey, wine, oil, and other typical products of the region.
Finally, we'll return to Syracuse and say goodbye at the meeting point after a total of 8 hours together.
