Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and begin a journey towards Morocco's coast to visit Essaouira.
During the journey, we'll admire beautiful landscapes, passing through hills and picturesque Berber villages. After a 2.5-hour drive, we'll arrive in this World Heritage city and start a guided tour through its streets to discover its rich history.
Essaouira is famous for its well-preserved Medina, its charming blue and white architecture and its lively souks. We'll witness them as soon as we pass through one of the three monumental gates: Bab Sbâa, Bab Marrakech or Bab Doukhala.
As well as the streets full of galleries, small shops of all kinds, cafés and restaurants, we'll see some of the city's highlights, such as the Clock Tower and the Ben Youssef Mosque. The latter boasts a 66-metre-high (216-foot) minaret and architecture with geometric patterns and Islamic calligraphy in its prayer rooms.
Our tour continues on Skala Street, which will take us to the Skala de la Kasbah, a fort with cannons pointing to the ocean. This construction was requested by Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ibn Abdallah to defend the city in 1765. From here, we will enjoy a fantastic view of the sea.
Then, we'll walk through the port of Essaouira, where we can watch the fishermen unloading and buy fresh seafood from the market stalls. There, we'll leave you 2 hours of free time to continue exploring the area at your leisure and taste some Moroccan cuisine.
Afterwards, we'll reconvene and make our way back to the starting point, where we'll say goodbye after a total of 11 hours of sightseeing.
