On this day trip to Pedro II, we'll discover the history of this town that carries the name of the important Brazilian emperor. We'll dig deep into its past and visit the waterfalls in its vicinity.

Day Trip Options

During the booking process, you can choose one of the following options:

Historic Day Trip (8 Hours)

At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Teresina and make our way to the city of Pedro II, located in the region of Serra dos Matões. The journey by minibus will take about 3 hours.

During the day, we'll explore both the old town of Pedro II, as well as its natural areas. We'll stroll through the town center of Pedro II and see the historic houses, as well as the ancient squares and churches, among which the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição stands out. During the walk, we'll explain why this city is named after one of the most important emperors in the history of Brazil.

We'll then visit the Mirante de São João, an ideal place to take pictures of the beautiful mountain landscapes that surround Pedro II. Next, we'll head to the Mirante do Gritador, which stands at 984 feet (300 meters) tall. Here, you'll feel captivated by the views of the cliff that guards the valley around us.

We'll wrap up our tour by visiting the archaeological site of Torre II, where you'll see the cave paintings that tell the oldest history in the region.

Finally, we'll stop so you can have lunch on your own. After lunch, we'll return to your hotel, where we'll arrive 8 hours after pickup.

Buriti & Samambaia Day Trip (9 Hours)

In this case, we'll depart from your hotel in Teresina and head to the outskirts of Pedro II, specifically to the Mirador do Gritador, which we'll reach after about 3 hours.

Once we arrive at this viewpoint, we’ll set out on a hike of about an hour, covering a trail of roughly 1.24 mi (2 km). The effort will be well worth it, as this path will lead us to the beautiful Buriti and Samambaia waterfalls, two of the most stunning waterfalls in the area, famous for their natural pools.

In these idyllic spots, you'll be able to take a dip and recharge on your own.

Finally, we'll return to the vehicle to head back to your hotel in Teresina, where we'll conclude this 9-hour day trip.

Tombador Waterfall Day Trip (10 Hours)

If you choose this route, we'll depart from your hotel in Teresina and head toward the outskirts of Pedro II. After a roughly 3-hour drive, we'll reach a trailhead.

Once we reach the trailhead, we’ll hike for about 30 minutes to Tombador Waterfall. This 49-ft (15-m) waterfall is surrounded by the landscapes of the Caatinga and Cerrado and is one of the most beautiful in the region.

You can take a dip in its waters and eat the food you've brought along. Finally, we'll return by car to your hotel in Teresina, where we're scheduled to arrive 10 hours after pickup.
