Álex was a great guide, he showed us the most interesting places in Valparaíso, its history and we were also able to taste a typical alfajor that was delicious. Highly recommend!

Valparaiso Free Walking Tour

Begin your free walking tour of Valparaiso at the selected time at the Prat pier, from where we'll walk to Plaza Sotomayor. We'll learn about the history of this monument before making our way down to the port to learn about the origins of this fascinating Chilean city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When we arrive at the waterfront, we'll walk to the El Peral elevator, a true icon of this Chilean city. With so many hills in the city, it has had over thirty different cable car systems and elevators throughout its history, most of which were built between the 19th and 20th centuries. This elevator connects Plaza Sotomayor to Yugoslavo road.

We'll get off the elevator at the highest part of the city: Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepcion. From here, we'll be able to admire the beautiful Bohemian streets in this district, and the colorful houses, infinite staircases, luxury hotels, and diverse churches perched upon steep hills.

The free tour of Valparaiso will continue walking down Paseo Dimalow, passing through the picturesque streets of Pasaje Galvez and Pasaje Bavestrello until we reach the Baburizza Palace. In this area, we'll also see the photo-worthy Escalera de Colores (rainbow staircase) and the Escalera Piano (piano staircase).

Finally, we'll go up to the Concepción elevator and we'll say goodbye next to the Reina Victoria elevator, where our free tour of Valparaíso will come to an end.
