Tour Details

We'll meet at the indicated time at Plaza Sotomayor to start this tour, in which we'll follow in the footsteps of Pablo Neruda, exploring the places that inspired his most famous works and fueled his passion for the sea.

Our journey begins at the First Pier, where we'll tell you the story of Lord Cochrane. What links this illustrious Scottish sailor with Valparaíso? As we uncover this fascinating tale, we'll pass by the First Fire Company, the Ministry of Culture and the Navy Building. Learning about these spots in the city will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of the deep admiration that Neruda had for sea trades and the bravery of those who faced it.

Next, we'll go up to Cerro Alegre taking the Peral funicular, where we'll have stunning views of the city and the port. In the Paseo Yugoslavo, we'll admire the open bay, the same horizon that appears in the poet's verses. We'll descend the Bevestrello stairs and walk along the Gálvez passage, soaking up the classic Bohemian atmosphere that Neruda valued so much.

From here, we'll go in search of the Gervasoni and Atkinson viewpoints to gaze at the port, admiring the charm of the chaos that Neruda found in this place. We'll cross the Piano staircase, a small jewel of urban art, to reach the Dimalow passage lined with local cafés and shops.

Up next, we'll take the Reina Victoria elevator to reach the Casa Museo La Sebastiana in Valparaíso. There, we'll enter what was once the residence of Pablo Neruda. Each room, infused by his poetic energy, will be a sample of his passion for the emotions of life, his eccentricity, and his love for Valparaíso.

At this final stop, we'll conclude this 3 to 4 hour tour.
