With your tickets to the Chillon Fort Museum, you’ll explore a military complex carved directly into the rock. It was designed as part of the Réduit National during World War II, the system of Alpine fortifications that ensured the country’s resistance against a potential invasion.
Across its 2,125 square meters (2,287 square feet) spread over several levels, you’ll explore more than 20 themed rooms that accurately recreate the inner workings of the fort.
You’ll make your way through technical galleries, command posts, troop barracks, communications rooms, and artillery chambers designed to control the strategic passage through the Rhône Valley. Did you know that this complex remained classified as a defense secret for over 50 years?
You’ll enjoy an exhibition that uses immersive sound and ambient lighting. This helps you understand the site's operational logic. From crossfire coordination to autonomous ventilation systems, designed to withstand prolonged sieges. You’ll be amazed at how Alpine geography was transformed into military architecture!
During your visit, you'll also see how each room has been restored using the original materials, incorporating reinforced concrete, structural steel, and period-appropriate electromechanical devices.
