Tour Details
We'll begin this guided tour of Vlorë in front of the Muradie Mosque, where we'll meet at the designated time. Ready to discover one of the main cities on the Albanian Riviera?
Firstly, we'll admire the facade of this beautiful mosque, that dates back to 1542. It's also particularly unique for being the only surviving work by Sinan the Great in Albania. Did you know that he was one of the most famous and prestigious architects in the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century?
After getting to know the mosque's history, we'll make our way to Sheshi I Flamurit (Flag Square), where Albanian independence was proclaimed on November 28, 1912. We'll discover how this historic event came about before making our way to Vlorë's historical centre to stroll down its picturesque streets.
We'll then continue our tour by visiting the Ethnographic Museum of Vlorë, where we’ll see a wide collection of traditional Albanian clothing and furniture in its permanent exhibition. These pieces will allow us to better understand the country's culture and traditions, which boast a rich folklore.
Lastly, we'll conclude this 2-hour tour in the market in Vlorë's historical centre, where you'll be able to grab some local Albanian products to eat if you wish.
