Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Nalbandyan Street, very close to Republic Square. There, we'll board a vehicle and drive for 40 minutes until we reach Echmiadzin. Ready to dive into centuries of Christian history?
Our first stops will be the churches of St. Hripsime and St. Gayane, two architectural gems built in honour of the Christian martyrs who fled Rome along with their abbess Gayane. We'll spend 20 to 30 minutes exploring each of these temples, admiring their austere beauty and the symbolism within their walls.
We'll then head to Echmiadzin Cathedral, considered to be the first Christian cathedral in the world. For almost an hour, we'll discover the fundamental role that this temple has played in the religious history of Armenia and Christianity. Its frescoes, icons and relics will leave you speechless.
After this fascinating visit, we'll head for the Zvartnots temple, a 7th century medieval construction that was once one of the tallest buildings in the world. Although today only its ruins remain, its original grandeur is still impressive. We'll walk around the site for about 30 to 40 minutes as we discover the secrets of this unique monument. You'll fall in love with this place!
Finally, we'll return to Yerevan and say goodbye at the starting point after a 4 to 5-hour trip.
