Bring out your adventurous spirit and embark on this 10-day Mount Kilimanjaro hike. Discover the highest peak in Africa and the landscapes along the Lemosho route!

Mount Kilimanjaro Hike: 10 Days

During the 10-day hike, we'll ascend along the Lemosho route to Kilimanjaro, where you'll enjoy the numerous landscapes that it crosses, including forests, plateaus, desert and even glaciers.

Day 1: Arusha

We'll meet at the airport and take you in an air-conditioned vehicle to the hotel in Arusha. After settling in, we'll meet the guides who are leading this 10-day hike to learn all the details about the Lemosho route. The day will end having dinner.

Day 2: Arusha - Londorossi Gate

After breakfast, we'll drive for two hours to Londorossi Gate, the western entrance to Kilimanjaro. The 5 km (3 m) trek will begin here and take us through cultivated fields to the Lemosho trail.

Here we'll meet some important guides belonging to the local Chagga tribe. Together we'll go through a forest and end up at the Big Tree camp, where we'll have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3: Londorossi Gate - Meseta de Shira

Once we've had breakfast and prepared our hiking equipment, we'll leave the forest to enter a wide area of heather, a very characteristic landscape in Kilimanjaro.

For about 9 km (5 mi), we'll ascend through these fields, enjoying the views and reaching the edge of the Shira plateau. This area full of wildlife will be our camp, where we'll have dinner before resting for the next day.

Day 4: Shira Plateau

On the fourth day of the route, we'll cross the Shira plateau and reach a moorland area, where we'll stop to rest. Then we'll continue walking through regular terrain until we reach a large gorge.

As we ascend the northwest face of Kilimanjaro, we'll have the opportunity to see how the temperatures drop and the landscape becomes more wintry. After about six hours, we'll reach Moir camp, located under the ice fields of the mountain. We'll have dinner and rest until the next day.

Day 5: Shira Plateau

On this day, the route will continue to the most western part of Kilimanjaro. We'll cross a moorland area and enter the Alpine desert, where you'll notice changes in temperature and air density.

To complete the route without problems, we'll only travel 5 km (3 mi) before reaching the Lava Tower camp, located at 4,114 m (13000 ft) high. While we acclimate to the new travel conditions, we'll have dinner and rest.

Day 6: Shira Plateau - Barranco Valley

On the sixth day, we'll embark on a 7-hour walk, during which we'll descend a couple of kilometres to the Barranco Valley, a real natural wonder. As we cross this volcanic landscape, we'll be acclimatized to the colder temperature typical of this altitude.

At the end of the day, we'll arrive at Karanga Valley camp to eat dinner and have the opportunity to watch the sunset over the Kilimanjaro glacier valley - a unique sight!

Day 7: Barranco Valley - Desert Plateau

First thing in the morning, we'll jump over the Karanga River and start the climb of about 6 km (3.7 m). We'll pass through areas with little traffic until we reach the desert plateau, covered by volcanic rocks.

From this privileged position, we'll see the Mawenzi summit, one of the inactive volcanoes that make up the Kilimanjaro mountain range. After about six hours of climbing, we'll arrive at the Kosovo camp to spend the night next to a crater.

Day 8: Desert Plateau - Uhuru

We'll begin our ascent to the summit of Kibo early. Skirting the crater of this volcano, we'll reach the coveted Uhuru peak, at 5896 m (19000 ft), the highest point on the African continent!

You'll have free time to enjoy the views, take pictures at the top and indulge in the feeling of being at Kilimanjaro's highest point. From this unbeatable viewpoint, you'll see the hanging glaciers and the Bismarck towers.

Finally, we'll descend back to the camp for dinner and rest.

Day 9: Uhuru - Mweka Gate- Arusha

As the sun begins to rise, we'll descend the last part of the journey until we reach the jungle at the Kilimanjaro slope again. From here, we'll walk to Mweka Gate and have lunch before returning to the hotel in Arusha.

Once settled in, we'll enjoy a well-deserved celebration dinner.

Day 10: Arusha

To end the tour, we'll accompany you to the airport to take the flight home.
