Join us to visit two of India's World Heritage architectural treasures on this private trip to the Ellora and Ajanta Caves from Aurangabad. You'll love it!
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Aurangabad to begin this day trip to the Ellora and Ajanta Caves. Ready to fall in love with these two architectural gems? Let's discover them!
On the way, you can relax as we travel through the Indian countryside to the Ajanta Caves, about 2 hours away. On arrival, you can explore this collection of 30 Buddhist cave paintings carved into the rock between the 2nd century BC and 650 AD. What do you think of their frescoes and sculptures? You'll see that they narrate scenes from the life of the Buddha and reflect the artistic mastery of ancient Indian craftsmen.
Before continuing on to Ellora, we'll leave you some free time in the area for a delicious lunch. Feeling refuelled? Let's get on the road! This time, it will take about 2.5 hours to reach the Ellora Caves.
There, you'll come across the 34 impressive Ellora Caves, a monumental complex combining Buddhist, Hindu and Jain temples and monasteries carved directly into the rock between 600 and 1000 AD. Did you know that the Kailasa Temple, dedicated to the god Shiva, is one of the largest monolithic excavations in the world? It's simply spectacular!
Finally, we'll reach the starting point after a total of 9 hours.
